School Safety

School Safety Intro

School safety is a priority for the AFUHSD. Each school site has a designated administrator who oversees school safety to include items such as; emergency action plans, drills, and safe schools alerts. The Director of Student Services ensures that schools are consistent with protocols, emergency planning, and follow through.

Student ID’s

Students are required to wear their student ID’s at all times. This is for their safety in an emergency situation.

Student ID’s and Transportation

ID’s are required when arriving and before boarding to be shown both during morning pick-up and afternoon drop-off.

Preparation for Emergencies

The AFUHSD in partnership with local law enforcement utilize the i love u guys Standard Response Protocol (SRP). The i love u guys SRP is a nationally recognized protocol that is simple for staff and students. Feeder districts also use the SRP, which allows for continuity when students transition to high school. Drills are conducted throughout the school year and schools are required to conduct one drill out of classroom time (lunch, passing periods.)

Reunification

A crisis situation may require that students are reunified with their families, either on-site or at an off-site location. The AFUHSD follows the i love u guys Standard Reunification Method to support a controlled release of students to their parents/guardians. Please read the parent handout regarding reunification.

A few important notes regarding reunification:

  • Families will not be told the off-site reunification location until after students have arrived.

  • You must show an ID and only those listed in the student information system will be allowed to take the student.
